The Childhood Protection and Care Association (CPCA), is a non-profit association founded by the First Lady Mrs. Andree Emile Lahoud to help children with special needs. In February 2006, the CPCA created the Childhood Asthma Center (CAC) to improve the quality of life of children (from birth until 16 years of age) suffering from asthma and their families.

The mission of the Childhood Asthma Center is to promote better asthma management by:
• Reducing hospitalization and utilization of emergency services
• Reducing school absenteeism for asthma related problems
• Decreasing the number of attacks and the severity of the symptoms
• Stabilizing and controlling asthma before adulthood
