St. Jude's children
Mrs. Lahoud has received the St. Jude's children for a field day in the Presidential Palace. She had insisted this day be filled with as many activities as possible, as well as sharing a meal and listening to their worries. She then encouraged their parents and the efforts they are deploying, considering that hope in life remains the strongest, and the only thing capable of overcoming difficulties and illnesses.

Cochlear implant children's visit
Mrs. Lahoud has expressed her joy in receiving all the children subjected to the Cochlear implant procedure, and who came to visit her in the Presidential Palace to thank her and the Childhood Protection and Care Association for their help and support. They were at loss on expressing their happiness, and ran to hug and kiss her in turn, not only to thank her, but to show her how happy they were that she had changed their lives.

The First lady has inaugurated the new center for female juvenile delinquents in Dahr El Bachek, amidst a plethora of personalities from all walks of society. The center's aim is to separate these youngsters from the more mature women in the Women's Prison in Baabda. It is a joint project between the Ministries of Interior, Justice and Public Health, and the UN Bureau in Vienna, while the funding comes from Switzerland, Canada, and Netherlands.

Mrs. Lahoud described this initiative as highly important, especially that it contributes to the reformation of female juvenile delinquents through offering a suitable climate that directly offers them a platform to new horizons, and urges them to build a new life for themselves.

Child day and Easter
Mrs. Lahoud has participated in an event attended by more than 150 orphaned children from different organizations; in the Ristoban restaurant in Ajaltoun. This activity came on the occasion of both Children Day and Easter. The children expressed their joy through numerous plays and activities. And after distributing gifts and souvenirs, Mrs. Lahoud told the children how happy she was to meet them, and stressed the importance of giving and sharing from the heart.

SOS Villages
More than 350 children of SOS Villages in Bhersaf, Kfarhay and Sfaray have been received by Mrs. Lahoud at the Officers' Club in the Bain Militaire on the occasion of Mother and Child Day. The children sang the national anthem and that of the SOS Villages before presenting their activities. Mrs. Lahoud stressed that: "The joy of this day is the best gift that can be offered to these children on this occasion" and that we should: " compensate all that is missing in their lives in order for them to know that there is always someone there to care for them".

The First lady has inaugurated at the UNESCO Palace an exhibition entitled "Ibdaat", linked to the painting prize of Dubai's Ibdaat for children with special needs. This initiative comes in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry for Social Affairs and the High Council for Childhood, where 16 participants from a Pan-Arab contest of 23,000 won prizes, among them two Lebanese children.

The First lady has granted her patronage to a prize-distributing musical event at the Presidential Palace, where 79 children gathered at the initiative of The National Commission for Lebanese Children.

This yearly contest which commends outstanding young musical talents has also grouped a plethora of musical and social personalities, as well as representatives of childhood-related NGOs.

After words of thanks and praise, as well as musical performances, Mrs. Lahoud congratulated the children and distributed medals in the form of a musical note.

The First lady has reviewed with a delegation of the Association for Children with Kidney Diseases the aims of the Association which takes care of organ donation, besides its charitable activities, notably being in charge of surgical procedures and medical treatments for 60 children.

The delegation which visited Mrs. Lahoud at the Presidential Palace, thanked her for her constant support and her third patronage to the association's yearly charitable event.

Under the high patronage and in presence of the First lady, the Regional Seminar for Autism was held at the UNESCO Palace, at the initiative of the Lebanese Association for Autism and in cooperation with the regional bureau of the UN. This regional event was attended by a number of Lebanese, Arab, and International personalities.

International Lebanese Council of Affairs
Under the High patronage of the President of the Republic, represented by First lady Andrée Emile Lahoud, the International Lebanese Council of Affairs – Geneva section, in cooperation with the Swiss embassy, has presented a charity classical music performance at the UNESCO palace. On another level, Mrs. Lahoud has inaugurated a monument dedicated to peace and unity, the "United Branches of Lebanon", erected by a charity organization that works for financially deprived children, Time 4 sharing.com.

Wissam Moustafa
Mrs. Lahoud received the family of the child Wissam Moustafa (10 years old) who has leukemia and needs to have a cell transplant abroad. The First lady insisted upon the necessity of continuing the subsequent treatment in order for Wissam to fully recover. The family extended its heartfelt thanks especially that Mrs. Lahoud's help came at a time where the family was going through rough times.

Oasis of Joy
Mrs. Lahoud has visited the "Oasis of Joy", a specialized center for retarded children, in the convent of Saydet-el-Natour in Anfé. Metropolite Monsignor Elias Corban accompanied the First lady in her tour of the manual workshops, where she encouraged the children there, all aged between 4 and 14 years old. Mrs. Lahoud expressed her happiness in meeting the children and insisted upon gathering all means to alleviate the pain of suffering childhood.

Third National Report on Lebanese Children
In an outstanding event at the Monroe hotel which was attended by a great number of personalities in the field of childhood affairs, the First lady has received from the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Assaad Diab, and the General Director at the Ministry Mrs. Nehmat Kanaan, the Third National Report on Lebanese Children (1998 – 2003), jointly prepared by the Ministry and the Higher Council for Childhood, in cooperation with five syndicates, four universities, 19 ministries, 52 organizations, and 144 persons in the corresponding field.

New-born quadruplets
Mrs. Lahoud has received Ali Moustafa, his wife, and their new-born quadruplets Yasser, Zeinab, Hassan and Rouba. The parents thanked the First lady for her care and concern, as well as for her effective help towards the children of Lebanon in all areas and fields. Mrs. Lahoud in turn,wished the parents the best of luck in raising their new family and offered the babies souvenir gifts.

After a tour in the Batroun region where she inaugurated the reception room of Mar Challita's church in the village of Kour; and the Blood Bank she donated to the dispensary of the village of Zan, the First lady visited the SOS village in Kfarhay.

After a word of welcome addressed by the child Christelle Boutros, the director of the village Johnny Yasmin thanked Mrs. Lahoud for her unceasing support to the cause of childhood, stressing that our children's future depends upon a web of comprehensive services.

The First lady insisted upon taking souvenir photos with the village children who offered her a memorial gift. And before leaving, she planted a cedar tree in the village's yard and signed the golden register.

The First lady stressed upon the importance of relief to handicapped children and those with special needs in order for them to be able to overcome their physical burdens and become effective individuals, towards themselves and in society.

These words came during a visit of the director of Handicapped Children Association in Saudi Arabia, Princess Latifa Bin Thanian Al Saud to the Presidential palace, where she briefed Mrs. Lahoud of the Association's aims and services, stressing that her visit to the First lady was in order to exchange views and expertise for future encounters.

Distribution of food parcels
Following the project that began on October 11th, 2004, and that consists of distributing units of food to the needy in all Lebanese regions, Mrs. Lahoud has granted her patronage to the distribution of 110 units of food to the "Birds' nest" orphanage in Byblos, which is affiliated to the Armenian Orthodox Bishopry, as well as 30 other units to the "House of Peace" affiliated with Mother Theresa's organization in Sed Al Bawchrieh.

Iftar at the Presidential Palace
Mrs. Lahoud has organized an Iftar at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, in honor of orphaned children, hoping to plant smiles on those little faces. The First lady stressed during her welcoming speech upon the necessity of all Lebanese children to be present in the Presidential Palace specifically, which is a symbol of unity and cooperation between all Lebanese. On the other hand, Mrs. Lahoud wished the children a bright and stable future, where all their dreams would be fulfilled, and the moral values they have learned be their priority.

The First Lady inaugurated the exhibition "Give Peace a Chance" at the "Michel Murr Sports Complex" in Dora. The exhibition features 840 paintings, drawn by children aged between 11 and 13 for the " Children Posters for Peace" contest, organized upon the initiative of the Lions Clubs.

After touring the exhibition, Mrs Lahoud was deeply impressed by the children's talent and work.

Evangelical school in Kahale
Mrs. Lahoud has stressed upon the importance of caring for the children of the streets, which represent a truly sad social issue, and that has a negative impact on these children's future. She suggested that concrete legal steps be taken to alleviate this condition. These words came as the First lady had given her patronage to an event in the Evangelical school in Kahale, whereby the South Korean embassy in Lebanon had donated a school bus. The school director had called Mrs. Lahoud "the mother of all Lebanese" considering that childhood need comprehensive care to protect its innocence.

Visit to Roumieh Prison
For the first time ever in Lebanon, a First lady has visited the section reserved to delinquents in the Roumieh prison. Mrs. Lahoud had a tour there, inspecting quarters were 130 young persons aged between 14 and 18 years old are purging time. The floor has been entirely restored and conditions there are very healthy. These young people, upon seeing the First lady, gathered behind bars and began shouting their happiness and thanks, before asking for a general amnesty new law. Mrs. Lahoud in turn, wished that in a near future, all cells will be closed and replaced by rehabilitation homes, that would prepare these youngsters to reinsertion in society, by giving them professional formation, and in treating them as victims of society, and not as criminals.

Youssef Charamand
Mrs. Lahoud stressed the importance of joining efforts to help all sick children whose parents are not able to afford the required medical treatment. These words came during the visit of the Charamad family to the Presidential Palace in order to thank the First lady for her full-fledged support to the young Youssef Charamand who has had open-heart surgery. She added that it is a truly sad condition that children do not get treatment because of financial reasons, and that it is for this same reason that the Childhood Protection and Care Association has been implemented.

Janette Jalkh
Mrs. Lahoud received the child Janette Jalkh (7 years old) and her mother, who explained to the First Lady Janette's condition: she suffers from Mucoviscidosis, a disease that attacks lungs since birth, and her condition requires an expensive treatment, costly medications, and the necessity of being hospitalized for 15 days every two months.

The First lady assured her that she will do her best to help Janette and all sick children in Lebanon, stressing that she shares the parents' suffering. Very impressed, Janette then offered Mrs. Lahoud a bunch of roses.

Acsauvel
As each and every year, the First lady has visited the Acsauvel charity association for the Christmas Bazar. The children of the association have presented a play, which was very much appreciated by the assistance, followed by Mrs. Lahoud's encounter with the children, stressing that they are no different than the other children except that they need a little more attention and love.

Christmas feast in Mar Semaan
Mrs. Lahoud has attended the Christmas feast organized by the children of Mar Semaan Center, in Wadi El Karm. This center takes care of children who come from dysfunctional families and schools them in the Freres School in Baskinta.

Down's Syndrome Association
The First lady has stressed upon the necessity to create a social environment that respects the "right to be different" and that allows people with special needs to fully enjoy their human rights. These words came during a visit to the Presidential Palace of the "Down's Syndrome Association" comprising fifteen children and teenagers with special needs. The visit came as an introduction of the association, implemented in 1998, and whose aim is to integrate these children with the rest of society, especially through a movie entitled: "Our voices", casting 25 children of the association.

Tagreed Seifeddin
"Sick children need care, love, and proofs of interest". This is the motto of Mrs. Lahoud who has visited the child Tagreed Seifeddin (12 years old) at the American university Hospital, following a surgical procedure to remove a brain tumor. The child was initially treated in the St. Jude Hospital, and as the operation was a costly one, the First lady contributed to its financing. Mrs. Lahoud then distributed gifts to all the children treated in the unit.
