Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is my pleasure, on the first annual dinner of the Childhood Protection and Care Association which I have the honor to preside, to welcome you tonight. This occasion is a meeting of love, because we are gathered in the name of the children's joy, the healing of their wounds and to extend a touch of tenderness to those who suffer among them
And your presence here tonight is proof of what you carry of great hearts, who know that the act of giving is the true participation to the pain of others and their worries, especially the young among them.
That is why I cannot but thank you for your caring, a fact that reinforces the aim of our association which is to try and spread happiness and joy in the wounded hearts and bodies of the children.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We do not want our children to live in fear of the present nor that of the future. And if they are themselves the future of Lebanon, then how crucial it is for us to build this future upon fine humanitarian bases that cooperate towards the highest good of all; to fight illness and handicaps, and to spread joy and fine morals in the hearts of the new generation.
And if our willingness to give meets the willingness of living in the children, and their rights to safety, health, and growth, then what we offer puts on a deep humanitarian tone, and it is the image of the true Lebanese that did not get corrupted by materialism, and will not be discouraged by life's downfalls.
Let our hands tonight be outstretched in giving from a joy-filled heart, because only happy hearts know how to give in an unconditional way.
Thank you.
Andrée Emile Lahoud
